Struble Books
Read ∵ Believe ∴ Imagine ∵ Achieve!
There are a lot of people I would like to recognize and thank for all the support and love they have given me. This has been a long and arduous journey from the young dyslexic boy I was to the, hopefully semi-decent, writer I have become. It was a road filled with much self-doubt and fear of rejection, but I had people to support me and constantly encourage me to keep going.
The first person I would like to recognize is my daughter! She has been my biggest fan, even though she is currently too young to read most of my work. She never stops being my cheerleader, saying how cool it is that I write and create this website. She loves what I do so much it inspired her to start her own story, and soon it will find its home on this website, a day I can’t wait to do. And let me tell you something she is going to be better than I am 😅 and truly I couldn’t be prouder!
I would also like to thank my son, who has the crazy creative imaginative mind that I have, maybe even a little more intense 😂 While he does suffer from the same reading ailments I do, he has learned to enjoy reading at a much younger age and I cannot wait until he is ready to start reading my YA stories. He loves sharing his made-up stories and I will always encourage that because creativity is something you can’t just learn.
Next, I would like to thank my wife, for even though she does not understand anything about building websites or is a fan of the genre of stories I write (she is more into romance and historical fiction), she will let me blather on about my stories, ideas, struggles or breakthroughs I have with my stories, sites, or anything else. While she does not often have much feedback or sometimes even understand my ramblings, she is always encouraging and loving.
The friends and family from my youth whom I used to tell my stories to, or make up extravagant scenarios with. Thank you for indulging in my passion and helping me understand it was something I loved to do. Nick, there were many late nights of just talking about complete nonsense situations and how we would handle it or survive. I will always treasure those days and hope you are well wherever you have landed. Ryan and Loomis, the days of deciding how we would survive a zombie invasion of different places will always live in my heart. We had many great conversations inside that bullpen of a department 😂
Sir Monte Jackson! The one the only Monte the Demon Hunter! You my friend will go down as the most encouraging person I have ever known! You helped propel me from a simple grouping of ideas I was too scared to fully commit to paper, to an intertwined universe of endless possibilities. You always have helpful criticisms that also encourage continued growth. I know I would not be here without you and your amazing attitude, as I would have been too scared to ever show my work to another human’s eyes. I still remember the first time we talked about my worlds, in Idaho in the lobby chairs of, I believe, a Holiday Inn. We talked for, it had to be hours, you just kept asking questions, wanting to know more, loving the enthusiasm I had for my work. Then you read Blood & Snow (Richard & Johnny back then) and you were so encouraging, you wanted more, you said I could do this. You helped put the fuel to my fire to really push forward with this. Then there is the fact that you are the reason Monté the Demon Hunter even exists! But that is a story for a different Post. You have been great, and I thank you for being you, being amazing, and being honest!
For the authors that help fill my imagination with worlds of fantasy and wonder. I thank you all for the amazing works you have created and pray that someday I can make it to the likes of you. Margaret Wies and Tracy Hickman, thank you for introducing me to worlds of fantasy and magic. R. A. Salvator, thank you for teaching me the intricacies of a battle scene. Robert Jordon and Brandon Sanderson, for showing me the subtlety of a massive epic adventure and how important the small details are to a story. I could continue this list forever, but the fact is every book, and every word I’ve read, has helped me to get to this point and I thank everyone for their words, and their stories.
More to come… This, I believe should be a living document as this journey is just begun and is far from over, I hope 🤞 so I will update this as more people join this epic adventure as I believe all should be given a place of honor.
For now, remember to believe in yourself and you can achieve more than you know!
