A bustling world in its 21st century filled with peace, prosperity, and happiness for all, or so the government liked to spout. The introduction of AMCES or Auto Managed Clean Energy Systems caused thousands to lose their jobs, straining an already fragile economy. With protests, riots, and wars ranging, the world was balancing on the edge of a knife blade and when the dead started to rise, the world was split in half.
It all began with some rumors in the South Americas. People said the government was punishing the towns that resisted their corrupt officials. Then, the videos came out. Horrible scenes of violence and bloodshed, as soldiers raided and burned entire villages to the ground. Many people ran for their lives, seeking refuge in other countries. The Federal Nations of Allied Mexico (FNAM) was soon overwhelmed by the influx of refugees, and many of them crossed into the Western Republic of Calico (WRC) and the Texan Freedom Alliance (TFA).
Americas Republic East (ARE) while safe from the initial effects of the mass panic, was outraged by the injustice and cruelty that was happening to their fellow humans. They took action in different ways: some organized protests and rallies to demand justice and change, some went to the frontlines to assist the refugees in need, some prepared for the worst-case scenario, and some carried on with their normal lives, thinking they were safe and distant from the chaos.
The situation got worse when a mysterious illness started to spread among the refugees and beyond. Countries shut down their borders, even to their allies, creating more conflict and chaos. The WRC was one of the first to isolate itself from both the TFA and the West British Colonies (WBC) to the north. But that didn’t stop the disease or the unrest from growing inside their territories. People inside and outside the countries were in danger, and the governments could not protect them from what was rising.

This is a world of change, death, undead monsters, and survivors.
Monsters once thought only fantasy or nightmares have now become reality. This is a world where survivors, good and vile, do what they must to live another day, a world broken by human neglect, arrogance, and hate, a world stitched together by human trust, belief, and love.
But what caused the dead to rise? Some believe it is the end of times, God’s rapture come to smite the wicked. Some believe a new strand of the flu was genetically modified by science to reduce the population and cull the weak. Others believe an alien parasite is to blame. But what is the truth? Will the survivors ever know?
You will meet many survivors in OLZ, from the spunky and adventurous Kayla, a young lady who grew up learning martial arts from her parents and is very handy with her kukri. Or her best friend Hunter, a strong-willed and hot-headed young man, who was raised with a strong moral belief to protect those you love, by the father he lost in the early days of the rising. How will they adapt to the changing world they have been thrust into?
There’s also Johnny and Richard, college students who have been best friends since childhood and have endured many challenges together, from the loss of Richard’s mother to the divorce of Johnny’s parents, they have always had each other’s backs. Will they still watch out for each other in this new unforgiving world, and will they be able to overcome the hell that they now must face?
Not all the survivors are kind though, with slave traders, racist scum, and religious fanatics, the world is a dangerous place, and not just because of the undead. When you don’t know whether the person you just met is friend or foe, who can you trust?
The survivors in this dreadful world must face not only the undead but also the living. As their world changes before their eyes, they will need to adapt and change with it. How will this affect them? Join them as they struggle for every breath, discover secrets about their changing world, and look for a safe place to rest. How will they survive? Will they abandon their morals and embrace the darkness to live another day, or will they sacrifice everything for their faith in what is just and right?
