Some say this tragedy was inevitable, that mankind has been corrupting this world since they came to be a part of it. Others say it could have been prevented if only we had come together to live in love and harmony. The simple truth is that it happened, and many lost their lives, and those who managed to survive had to fight for the very right to continue to live.
The events many refer to as the Zero Days or Z-Days are the days the world changed for everyone. While the effects of the Z-Days were felt on different days throughout the world it all started in September of year 1 in an unknown location in South America. The first rumors came to the wider world as riots, government attacks, or some other violent incident. Whole villages were being eradicated and burned to the ground, leaving most to believe it was some sort of government cover-up gone wrong.
But over the next few months, the started throughout the world, spreading from its starting village in South America, then through the rest of the world. During the beginning, many governments tried to keep order, and some actually managed, for example by implementing curfews or martial law. This was somewhat affective, until the terrorist attacks started. Some of these targeted attacks used chemicals to kill people leaving them to rise again and kill others. They targeted major cities claiming ‘Society was the downfall of humanity’ or ‘They would free the world of the adulterated beliefs society forced on the world’ but regardless of their motive, their actions were all the same, kill as many as possible and let them return to kill more.
The world fell into despair, chaos, and violence. Neighbors fighting neighbors over the smallest of resources, water, food, toilet paper, it did not matter. Many people became willing to hurt or kill any living they saw just to prevent them to taking what they had. It was almost like the dead brought with them a curse that made humanity evil, or maybe humanity just showed its true nature.
But not all fell victim to the despair, and not all were willing to kill for no reason. Many banded together to try and find refuge in this new and dangerous world. They built walls, community, and tried to find some semblance of haven. But how long can such ideals last, in a world such as this?
These are the stories of the beginning. The ones who lived and died in the zero days. Who they were before the end changed them, and how their change impacted them and those around them.
